Our school is situated on our working homestead/farm where students get to be immersed in the farm life and seeing how we are all connected. Participating in the cycle of food production and seeing the effort and life that goes into producing foods that keep us alive and strong is an integral part of our educational process. Reverence for life and appreciation of the food consumed lead to greater awareness and gratefulness in life.
Our farm is called Muck Weed Farm and currently consists of garden, orchard, dairy goats, laying hens, and pigs. We will be adding a sugar maple grove, honeybees, cows and sheep as time passes. Our farm is primarily for self-sustainability, but we do sell excess at local Farmers’ markets.
